There are almost as many exfoliating products out there as there are cleansers. Though they may not be as popular, they are an important part of any skin care routine. Exfoliators help deep clean pores beyond cleansers and get rid of dead skin cells, excess oil, blackheads, and whiteheads. They result in smoother and brighter skin!
But just like with any other skin care product, it is CRUCIAL that you get an exfoliator that works for you. There are two main types of exfoliators: chemical and physical exfoliators. Physical exfoliators physically scrub away at dead skin on the surface with little beads. The beads can be found in cleansers to give them an exfoliating factor or in scrubs. They can be made of ingredients like plastic, or they can be made of natural ingredients like sugar, nuts, coffee, salt, etc.
Chemical exfoliants contain Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acids, Enzymes, or retinol. These acids penetrate deeper into the epidermis to exfoliate the skin. Enzymes specifically break down proteins into smaller pieces. This is why they are great at breaking down dead skin cells in order to slough it off and soften your face.
These enzymes are found in our Natural Gommage Peeling gel. This exfoliator is perfect for exfoliation and clarification and gentle enough for all skin types. Gommage is a French term that means “to erase”. The product turns into a rubber like substance that along with bio-cellulose beads, gently exfoliate the skin’s top layer. It is rich in plant derived enzymes that remove dead skin, dirt, and impurities. After use you are left with soft, smooth, and radiant skin! The formula also has several brightening and moisturizing factors. It includes Vitamin C and E, as well as shea butter, jojoba seed oil, and honey.
